Yarrow Tincture Pre-order
Yarrow Tincture (Pre-Order)
HARMONIZER EXTRAORDINAIRE -
WHEN THE BODY NEEDS TO REMEMBER WHAT IT ALREADY KNOWS
Achillea millefolium — Yarrow grows nearly everywhere on Earth. A plant of roadsides and meadows, equally at home in the wild and the dooryard, and nearly impossible to mistake once you know them.
Using 120 proof organic Corn spirits, we tincture fresh leaves and flowers at peak bloom. They are respectfully and responsibly wild harvested in the Shenandoah Valley at Muddy Hollow in Stokesville Virginia. We are grateful to tend to this beautiful land that was once home to the people of the Monacan Nation.
Taste: Bitter, aromatic, slightly astringent
Energetics: Cooling ( sometimes warming), drying, toning
Affinities: Blood and circulation, immune system, skin
Yarrow is a plant of boundaries. Between blood and wound, between holding and release, between too much and not enough. They are one of the great paradoxes of the herb world: able to both move stagnant blood and slow excessive bleeding, responding to what the body actually needs in the moment. A cut finger, a heavy period, sluggish circulation, congestion that won’t shift, Yarrow reads the room and acts accordingly.
Deeply bitter and aromatic, they bring the same good sense to digestion: toning, moving, and settling all at once.
The tincture is a versatile thing, and Yarrow rewards a little creativity.
Mix some into raw honey and apply it to cleaned cuts, scrapes, burns and small gashes. Together, they heal, protect and stave off infection. Dilute it in water for a mouth rinse or gargle, good for everyday oral care.
When the chest is heavy and something needs to come loose, add some to hot water and enjoy while warm.
Dab it straight onto blemishes and let it work overnight.
Use it as a wound wash.
Cut it with water and splash it on your face as a toner or after-shave — cooling, clarifying, and astringent. Follow with your moisturizer. These are just a handful of ways to work with our beloved Yarrow in tincture form.
Indigenous peoples across the Americas and worldwide worked with Yarrow intimately as a wound herb, a remedy for pain, a cleansing smoke, and protective plant. Across nations and generations, people found their own deep relationship with this plant and tended them reverently. A plant that has been in relationship with humans for that long carries something in it that goes beyond chemistry.
This is a plant with strong opinions. Start low and slow, especially if you are sensitive to plants in the Asteraceae family.
