WILD MEDICINE IS THE BEST MEDICINE
There's a grit in the Yarrow at Muddy Hollow that you just won't find in the coddled and tended garden variety. These wild ones of the Shenandoah Valley face every manner of environmental stress and keep coming back swinging. That fight is exactly what makes them profoundly potent. No doubt, garden herbs are good medicine. But a plant that defies the odds and struggles to survive and thrive, carries something more, and we can feel it. And, we trust you will, too.
YARROW'S GIFTS
Yarrow is a healer, a protector, and a harmonizer. She's old medicine, kept close by mere mortals since before these hills had names. She runs cool, bitter, pungent/aromatic, and dry, and her medicine follows suit...stopping bleeds, moving sluggish blood, easing menstrual trouble, stirring digestion, supporting the liver, clearing a fever, tending wounds, and so much more. She is quite generous with her gifts.
Yarrow works on the spirit, too. She's a guardian of emotional boundaries. She's a remedy for those who feel too much, take on too much, or have lost their edges somewhere along the way. What she does for the body, she does for the soul.

THE BOUNTY
1. Fresh Plant Tincture — cut fresh from the fields at peak potency, then set to rest for a time while the little creatures relocate. Once the coast is clear, she goes into organic 120 proof Corn spirits which draws out the whole of her medicine, water soluble and alcohol soluble alike. Then the jars are tucked into a cozy dark place back in the woods of Aylett for four weeks, tended to and given a little jostle every few days. No casualties. Just good tincture.
2. Infused Oil — after the harvest, the Yarrow is tied and hung for the journey back to Whispering Woods, where she cures slowly in a dark closet until she's ready to get to work. I use the alcohol intermediary method, followed by a slow three week soak in organic Sunflower oil. The result is an oil that runs rich emerald green, full of fight.
3. Flower Essence — A flower essence is an energetic imprint of a plant in spring water No medicinal constituents, just pure vibrational medicine. Safe for everyone: children, elders, and animals alike, and easily taken in by the body. This one is made the way it ought to be, spring water and fresh Yarrow inflorescence meet in a designated glass bowl, set beneath the sheltering boughs of a Juniper hedge and left to work their quiet medicine. Yarrow is the gentle warrior, and her essence is medicine for the spirit. Casting an energetic mantle of protection around us, helping us stay open and sensitive without neglecting our boundaries. She keeps you tender without leaving you unguarded.
4. Yarrow Charm Vial — a small corked glass vial of dried Yarrow flowers. Wear it around your neck, set it on your altar, tuck it under your pillow, or hang it at your threshold. Yarrow has been carried as a protective charm for a long, long time. Old habit. Good reason.
5. Framed Plant Portrait — a 5x7 of Yarrow in her natural habitat, framed up and ready to hang. The frame is found — which means it's already got a little history to it, same as the plant.
6. Hand-Bound Booklet — written, printed and hand-bound using the French link stitch. She lays flat, the way a working book ought to. Inside you'll find Yarrow's plant profile, harvest guidance, folklore, practical day to day uses, and my favorite recipes — among them the Sugar Wolf Yarrow Flower Elixir. Blank pages designated front and back, waiting for your notes. This book is meant to be lived in.
